Now accepting new clients.
Hi, I’m Karen! I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and completed a dual master’s degree program in social work and public health from one of the top ranked graduate social work programs in the nation, Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis. I was able to focus on gerontology and public health. For undergraduate studies I went to Rutgers University, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in public health. I’ve had the privilege of working with adults, children, and families for more than 10 years primarily in health care settings such as hospitals and health clinics.
Originally from Costa Rica, I bring a global perspective and a passion for travel to my work as a bilingual therapist (Spanish and English) and proud mother. Guided by the spirit of “Pura Vida,” I am dedicated to helping individuals and families create meaningful, positive change in their lives.
I specialize in supporting clients who are ready to move beyond simply getting by and begin thriving. Whether you’re seeking progress, looking for a safe space to process your experiences, or hoping to reconnect with your strengths, I am here to guide you with empathy and expertise.
With over 10 years of experience across diverse medical settings—including hospice care, adult inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient pediatric hospitals—I offer a well-rounded, compassionate approach to therapy. My practice integrates deep, attentive listening with evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and solution-focused techniques. These practical tools are designed to empower you in your everyday life.
During our sessions, you will find a supportive environment to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Together, we will identify patterns, gain meaningful insights, and foster resilience and clarity. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling heard, supported, and more confident in your ability to achieve lasting progress.
If you’re ready to take the next step toward personal growth and well-being, I look forward to working with you.
